Superunion welcomes award-winning ECD Ross Clugston
Clugston joins Superunion leadership team where he will drive creative output in the region.
Continuing its momentum following the appointment of Sabah Ashraf to the role of CEO, North America, global next-generation brand consultancy Superunion has reinforced its leadership team by welcoming Ross Clugston as Executive Creative Director in the US.
An Australian native who calls New York City home, Clugston brings over 15 years’ worth of industry experience to Superunion, affording the creative exec the opportunity to think and execute far beyond traditional branding. “Superunion is built on ‘creative optimism’,” says Clugston. “Rather than just rely on typical approaches to branding and design, our goal is to push the work beyond the boardroom and into the physical and digital realm to start thinking about how brands can create conversations with customers, employees, and general population."
Throughout his career, which includes several years in San Francisco and New York as Creative Director at Interbrand, Clugston has built teams to push boundaries through innovative efforts for top-tier brands including Qualcomm, Microsoft, Amazon, Mars Wrigley, Google, Disney and Nissan. His work has been recognized by Cannes, D&AD, AIGA and the ADC. He also shapes surfboards in his basement.
As ECD, Clugston will leverage his expertise in tech and healthcare, while also fostering collaboration across agency disciplines from creative to strategy to finance. Driving great work by motivating and empowering his team of designers is his primary focus. “They’ve chosen the creative industry for a reason: they’re committed to the process and want to make things every day. At Superunion, that’s something we fully embrace and encourage.”
“Ross is a builder and we could not be more excited that he has joined us,” CEO Ashraf states. “I have admired his leadership style and work at his previous companies and we look forward to the impact he will make within our Superunion network, and more importantly, for our clients. He brings an infectious energy to innovate and an unwavering optimism about the future and what we are building here at Superunion. We are so excited to welcome him to our leadership team.”
Clugston will work closely with Executive Director, Strategy, Vincent Roffers in New York, and also with Global Chief Creative Officer Greg Quinton to further strengthen the agency’s approach to client challenges, and apply a methodology that drives solutions for North America and globally.
Quinton comments: “It’s a massively exciting time for us as a business. Clients are asking for the best creative solutions to shape their brands and to help meet the new challenges they face. Ross is exactly the kind of creative spirit to help us achieve this, so we’re delighted that he’s joined the team.”
