Shout celebrates one-year anniversary
Celebrating the one-year anniversary since Superunion partnered with Mental Health Innovations on the launch of free text helpline, Shout.
Global brand agency Superunion has partnered with Mental Health Innovations and Crisis Text Line to create the brand for Shout, a free text messaging service aiming to provide support for anyone experiencing mental health crisis.
For nine months Superunion worked with Shout to create the name, visual identity and a series of educational videos for the brand. The name Shout was chosen as it clearly illustrates conversation, but equally provides a sense of urgency to the service. The visual brand is defined by the iconic three dots sitting in the ‘o’ in shout, providing an instant cue to the messaging element of the service. The tagline “Give us a Shout” is an invitation for both those in need and also a call to action for volunteers to sign up to support the service.
Shout operates 24/7 and connects people in need to trained volunteers who provide help when it is most needed; enabling people to move from a moment of crisis to a calm state and form a plan for next steps to find longer-term support. The service provides instant, private support via text messaging and is designed for everyone, but in particular for younger people that use texting as a trusted and familiar form of communication.
Shout is powered by a team of volunteers, trained to create a safe space for people experiencing mental health challenges. The programme is unique as training and volunteering is all carried out online, under the supervision of qualified clinicians. Working remotely, volunteers are part of a supportive and connected online community of 1,000, with the ambition of boosting that community to 4,000 by the end of the year.
“Mental health support has undergone a revolution in recent years, with high profile backing propelling it into the public consciousness more than ever before. We wanted to create a brand that holds its own and clearly communicates the service to those in need. Purposely low fi, we wanted it to be easy to remember and intuitive to use, creating a sense of destination for volunteers and those in crisis. We are honoured to be working with the team at Shout on creating the brand and looking forward to seeing it grow in the coming months.”
Creative Partner, Superunion
"We are delighted with the work that Superunion has done in developing the Shout brand. The team has been incredible to work with and always gone the extra mile. The name Shout speaks to our service so well and the identity is just what we are after - something that captures that texting is fundamental to our service while complimenting our partnership with Crisis Text Line."
