Historic Royal Palaces

Reinvigorating HRP's and individual palaces’ identity and communications.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that cares for six of the UK’s most famous royal buildings, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace and Hillsborough Castle, conserving them and presenting their stories to millions of visitors every year. The charity is known for innovative artistic commissions like the ‘Poppies’ at the Tower of London in 2014, and major conservation projects – restoring 80 dragons to Kew Pagoda, and transforming Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland into a major visitor attraction.  With ambitious plans to expand its reach and impact on the horizon, the Historic Royal Palaces has appointed Superunion to develop new external expression of the charity’s values and vision.

We have been tasked with creating a brand story, reinvigorating the HRP and individual palaces’ visual identities, developing a tone of voice and personality that will engage with current and future audiences.

The new identity will be applied to all corporate and promotional communications, for internal use, marketing, sales and PR, as well as to products and services by HRP’s retail, licensing, catering, public engagement functions and events.

"Historic Royal Palaces welcomed 5 million visitors a year across our six sites last year, but we have ambitious plans to extend the reach of our work much further. To fulfil this ambition, we need a powerful brand that expresses our playful, imaginative and emotionally impactful style of delivering history, and we’re delighted to have Superunion on board to help us create it."

“We are thrilled to be working with Historic Royal Palaces, a charity very much part of the fabric of the UK, at such a pivotal time in its long history. Our mission is to create a brand identity that captures the imagination of a new wave of visitors and raises the awareness of HRP as an accessible, go-to destination for a unique British experience.”
