Changing the game in esports

Peter Hollstein heads to Munich to talk at this year’s Eyes and Ears Awards.

With 350 million fans in over 200 countries, ESL is the number one name in esports, the industry that exploded in recent years. With audiences to rival Super Bowl, ESL evolved from a bedroom-and-internet café movement to stadiums around the world, attracting millions to the scale and thrill of the games.

Peter will share his experience of creating a cut-through identity for ESL that was constructed through the use of graphic elements of the iconic video games. Designed to lead the game, without sacrificing its underground spirit. Built from hidden worlds that drew an infinitely diverse audience of fans and players closer to the brand.

Peter Hollstein, Senior Designer
Peter is a multi-award-winning Senior Designer at Superunion. His most recent work includes a rebrand of ESL, the world’s largest esports business, creating a design blueprint for British Airways, and launching a brand new airline, LEVEL, with the International Airlines Group, a digital-first airline for a new generation of travellers. 

Peter started his career at Brand Union London and New York, and worked with a number of leading global brands such as SABMiller, Canon, Heineken, Vodafone, Deloitte and Fosters+Partners.

His work received awards and accolades from Cannes Lions, D&AD, Design Week, Transform, and Brand Impact Awards. Peter is also a regular judge of some of the industry’s prestigious awards and is involved in D&AD New Blood Academy that supports young design talent through mentorship
