BBC Two introduces new idents

BBC Two continues its evolution with the introduction of eight new channel idents.

The new idents join the set that were launched in September last year, which was the first full brand refresh of the channel’s identity in twenty years. They have been received positively by audiences and complement BBC Two’s eclectic schedule due to the way they fit between channel junctions, allowing a seamless journey between programmes.  

The new animations broaden the palette of idents the channel can pair programmes with in order to further reflect the channel’s commitment to specialism, challenging and complex programming, creativity, alternative outlooks and unorthodox DNA. 

Since their initial launch, the idents have won awards and have helped to define the next stage of the channel’s evolution due to the way they have been designed to knit the channel’s schedule together. 

The new animations continue the partnership between the BBC’s in-house agency BBC Creative and Superunion.

THE IDENTS
The idents were created through a series of collaborations between some of the best animation talent. Collaborators included: FutureDeluxe, Buck Design and More and More.

Audio to accompany the animations was created by award winning British composer and sound designer Alex Baranowski. His approach was to use the same two notes which would then evolve and create an atmospheric journey through each animation.
